Security & privacy for PDF to Text conversion
About PDF to Text conversion
Most PDFs already contain a hidden text layer alongside their visual layout - this tool reads that layer directly, page by page, and returns clean plain text almost instantly. For scanned PDFs that are really just photographed pages with no text layer, it automatically falls back to in-browser OCR, rendering each page as an image and recognizing the characters.
Everything happens client-side: the PDF is parsed and, if needed, OCR'd entirely in your browser using WebAssembly. Nothing is uploaded to a server, which matters for contracts, IDs, or any document you'd rather not send anywhere.
Common use cases
- Pulling the body text out of a PDF report or invoice
- Extracting text from a scanned or photographed PDF page
- Getting plain text from a PDF for search, translation, or archiving
- Copying a paragraph out of a PDF without manual retyping
